Where is it?
St Leonards is North of North Sydney. The playing fields are on the Pacific Highway, in front of Royal North Shore Hospital, just a bit further away from the city than the railway station (turn left out of the station). The oval is called Gore Hill Oval.
When do they play?
When there are no Northern Suburbs leagues in progress, the fields are usually available for pick-up games. The days are Monday evenings, all evening and on Wednesday evening from 8.30 pm. Check whether there are leagues in progress if you want a pick-up game.
How hard is the game?
Varies, depending on who turns up. Usually around Div 2 or 3 standard.
How do I get there?
Train to St. Leonards station is easiest, although many buses also pass the ground. Tell people that you want to get to Royal North Shore hospital or St. Leonards station - both are very close to the fields.
Who can I contact to confirm that it's on?
No one - so it's a bit pot luck. Check this web-site to see when the Northern Suburbs leagues aren't on. There is also a council wet-weather number for Gore Hill Oval - ring after lunch to find if the field will be open that night - (02) 9777 7631.
Anything else I should know?
The fields are leased from Willoughby Council who do a fine job. Don't make their life (or ours) harder by leaving litter or playing gear behind.
