What is a mailing list?
Along with the web site and direct email, mailing lists are the primary method of finding out what is happening in Ultimate in NSW. Messages are sent to a central list and then distributed by email to all of the members of the list. An archive of all messages is stored for later reference.
These lists are administered automatically by a list server, which saves someone from having to collect and keep track of people's email addresses. For more information, see the Yahoo!Groups homepage, which hosts most of our lists.
Why should I join a list?
The lists carry important announcements and news about leagues and tournaments etc. Being on the list will keep you informed.
Choose which lists you are interested in and subscribe to them. It is a simple matter to unsubscribe if the subject matter is uninteresting or you find you are getting too much mail.
How do I join or leave a list?
To subscribe to a list, simply send a blank message to list-name-subscribe [at] yahoogroups [dot] com.
To remove your email address from a list, send a blank message to list-name-unsubscribe [at] yahoogroups [dot] com.
You can also subscribe and unsubscribe by visiting the list home page at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/list-name
What if I'm getting too much mail?
As mentioned above, if the subject matter is uninteresting, you can simply unsubscribe from the group.
Alternatively, Yahoo!Groups archives all messages sent to it. By setting your mail delivery preference to "Read on the Web", you can read articles at your leisure without them clogging up your mailbox. Simply visit Yahoo!Groups, log in, select the relevant groups, and set the read mode to "Read it on the Web".

Announcements which are considered relevant include:
- upcoming tournaments
- league announcements
- tournament reports
- league results
- lost and found
- social invitations
Golden Rule
Announcement lists are for announcements only. You should never reply to someone else's message on an announcement list. If you disagree with something that has been posted you should reply to the original poster.
Administration Lists
UFNSW has an administration list, which allows administrators to keep in touch with each other and replace self-maintained lists for distributing minutes and holding on-line discussions.
Discussion which is considered relevant includes:
- meeting announcements
- minutes distribution
- policy discussion
- brainstorming
This list is meant to allow for discussion of issues between meetings, as well as for announcement of meeting dates and agendas.
