UFNSW Awards for 2007 presented
UFNSW recognises contributions within the ultimate community each year and the recipients of the awards for 2007 are Alex Leung and Tim Keighley.
Tim Keighley is an unassuming and softly spoken volunteer. Tim used to run regular training at Macquarie University while he was a student but even now he has finished studying has continued on since no one has raised their hand to do it. He takes on odd coaching jobs that we have been struggling to find coaches for and always willing to help out even if it isn’t his forte’. As the relationship has grown between Macquarie University and Ultimate in general, Tim has acted as a liaison point. He is responsible and reliable which is important when trying to maintain a strong relationship with them. When Junior Nationals and the Juniors Training weekend were held at Macquarie University, he was the first to raise his hand to help. He assisted with all the menial tasks that must be done but seem like extras (like the lunches, confirming fields, etc.) and he stayed both days just making sure there was someone there to take care of an emergency. Tim is also involved with the Hills league and he always helps organize his Div 2 and 3 teams. He is the guy that will set up fields every week and never complain. He is unassuming, keen as mustard about Ultimate and volunteering, and completely deserving of our recognition.
Alex Leung was the UFNSW Universities officer in 2005/06 and even though he has not been officially acting in that capacity he has continued to be involved. Alex is another 'behind the scenes' worked, keeping things ticking over on email and encouraging the universities around the state. In fact it was Alex who was partially responsible for the universities role not being filled because people were scared of having to 'do the amount of work Alex did'. Another deserving recipient of the UFNSW Award.

Welcome to Ultimate Frisbee NSW
On this site you can learn about our sport, register for leagues,
see maps of field locations, get Ultimate going at your school,
contact a member of the executive, post a message, report an
injury, learn about past winners and much more.
What is Ultimate Frisbee?
Ultimate is a seven-a-side team sport played with a frisbee. It is
non-contact, self-refereed and combines elements of netball, touch
football and gridiron. For more on the rules and history of the
sport, visit www.whatisultimate.com or www.afda.com for the Australian home
page.
Where is Ultimate played in NSW?
Ultimate is played in numerous locations in Sydney, Wollongong,
Newcastle, Bathurst, Dubbo and many more places. Visit the links on
the left for info on the pick up games (everyone welcome) and
weekly leagues, or join the relevant email lists.
How do I join in?
Beginners are
welcome to play in every league and pick up game. UFNSW also runs
Learn 2 Play sessions, designed especially for beginners, that run
for about 5 weeks. It's generally a good idea to contact the person
running the league or pickup game for up-to-date information. The
cost is generally very cheap (leagues and Learn 2 Play) or free
(pick up games).
Who do I talk to about ...?
Contact details for leagues, pickup games, and tournaments are listed on their respective pages. The contact details of the UFNSW executive are
on our contacts page.
What about tournaments?
Tournaments, which are usually held over a weekend, are held
across Australia all year round. Check out the national tournament
calendar.
Is there an easy way to keep up to date?
Yes! Join the NSW Ultimate email list. Its free, easy, and you
control how many emails you get. You can join the list by sending a
blank email to
nsw-ultimate-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or visit the YahooGroups web site. See the mailing lists page for more info, and for other groups you can join that may be relevant to you.
What is the difference between UFNSW and NSWFDA?
Very little! We are incorporated as New South Wales Flying Disc
Association (NSWFDA) but we also trade under the name of Ultimate
Frisbee NSW which we feel is more indicative of what we're
about.
